SPRAY TECHNICIAN/TRACTOR DRIVER

Due to an internal promotion, we have a permanent role for a Spray Technician/Machinery Operator to join our dedicated team based in Pukekohe. This is a critical role for our growing operation and we are looking for a high calibre candidate. You don’t have to know it all, but you will have the desire to learn and to be a high performer. Minimum hours per week are 40, however average hours per week are between 45 – 55 depending on seasonal activities.

This role offers responsibility and variety. The spray application part of the role has a seasonal focus and the remainder of the time you will be undertaking machinery operation including ground preparation, planting and harvesting.

We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about the horticulture industry and is looking for a long-term career role with the ability to advance. This role is a great stepping stone to the role of Agronomist or Crop Supervisor for the right person.

The successful applicant will be an experienced operator and will:

• hold a minimum Class 1 licence
• have previous vegetable industry experience – preferred but not essential as full training will be given
• Maintenance and service knowledge
• excellent written and verbal communication skills
• able to keep excellent records
• demonstrate a ‘can do’ attitude
• have the flexibility to take on other tasks as and when required.
• be team-oriented
• appreciate the outdoor demands and conditions that will be part of this role

A competitive hourly rate between $27-$32 per hour depending on experience plus a structured spray allowance from $3-$5 per hour, again depending on experience.
