Onions from Wilcox are grown in the key growing regions of Pukekohe and Waikato and are harvested, stored and pre-packed for year round availability in New Zealand supermarkets. Varieties are continually evaluated to ensure consistent quality standards in taste, texture and keeping properties. A purpose-built onion packhouse is situated in Pukekohe in the North Island.

These are easily recognised by their burgundy red skins and red tinged flesh. Spanish type red onions are large and round, while Californian red onions tend to be flatter and milder.
These are simply small brown onions. They have a strong pungent flavour. Available all year round, but at their best for pickling about March.
